Mother of Eight Killed in Bakersfield DUI Car Accident

Date: August 6, 2009

Location: River Boulevard, Bakersfield, CA

Type: DUI car accident vs. pedestrian

Outcome: One woman dead

Mother of eight and grandmother of fifteen, Maria Esperanza Rodriguez, was struck by a drunk driver and killed while she was crossing the street on River Boulevard just north of Height Street in Bakersfield on August 6, 2009.  The Bakersfield drunk driving car accident took place less than a block from her home.  According to the CHP, the drunk driver was stopped at the intersection, became impatient, and ran through the intersection running over Ms. Rodriguez.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ms. Rodriguez’s family for their tragic loss.  By all account, Ms. Rodriguez was an amazing woman.  She moved from Jalisco, Mexico to the United States, raised her family, and became a citizen in 2004.  She also helped her younger children become citizens.  She was loved and she will be missed.
